OUR STORY
Rooted in Experience. Built on Trust.
A Family Business,
Grounded in the Land
CopperWood is a family-run forestry operations and land management company based in Humboldt County, California. We serve private landowners, contractors, and agencies across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest—offering safe, professional solutions for managing land, trees, and timber. Every job is different, but our commitment stays the same: honest work, done right.
A Career Built in the Woods
Founder Ronald Ross became a timber faller young—just 18—hauling saws and gear that nearly outweighed him. What he lacked in size, he made up for with grit. Over the years, he built a reputation for skill, speed, and a readiness to take on tough, technical jobs. His work with Columbia Helicopters took him from the Pacific Northwest to Alaska and Texas, clearing blowdown after hurricanes and logging by helicopter in some of the hardest terrain in the country.
DO IT RIGHT. BE SAFE. NO EXCUSES.
A Philosophy That Guides Us
Ron’s time in the field shaped the way we work today. We don’t cut corners. We show up prepared. And we take pride in doing the job right the first time—safely, skillfully, and with respect for the land.

We’re proud to serve our home in Humboldt County and beyond, and we bring that pride to everything we do.
